The Community Chest of Port Washington invites all to participate in the annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run, to be held on July 28, starting at 9 a.m. at the Town Dock. The event provides an opportunity to explore Manhasset Bay via kayak, with checkpoints along the way to qualify for prizes.
The Port Washington Manhasset Bay Kayak Run is a family event open to all competitors of all skill levels. The Kayak Run is limited to human-powered kayaks of all sizes and shapes. Come, bring your own kayak or rent a kayak from Atlantic Outfitters for $40 at 767-2215 to participate in this community event.
Application forms are available via the Community Chest website (www.porchest.org) or at Atlantic Outfitters, Twin Pines Food Co-op and West Marine. The entry fee is $25 ($35 if paid on July 28).
The event is sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead, Port Kayak Club, Atlantic Outfitters and the Community Chest.
The proceeds from the Manhasset Bay Kayak Run will benefit the Community Chest of Port Washington, a not-for-profit organization established more than 50 years ago to raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving people's lives. Community Chest funds - your donations - support these charities' programs in Port Washington, including services for senior citizens, children and teenagers, victims of domestic violence and others in need.
