Gambol 2007 could not have happened without your generous support. We gratefully acknowledge the guidance we received from Gambol alumni chairs: Ann Axelrod, Caren Sichel, Peggy Falconer, Marion Lehmann and Laurie Krotman. They helped us make Gambol '07 run smoothly and they never tired of our frequent phone calls.
Thanks also to the many Friends of Gambol who help out year after year and lend their support: Tab and Maureen Hauser, Ron Harris, Barry Loeb, Steve Kaplan, Jimmy Kallenberg and Paul Rappaport to name a few. Your ardent support has been a tremendous help to the Gambol over the years and this year was no exception. Many thanks to Anne Krauss, an alumni Gambol parent, who spent many hours working with our Gambol '07 parent, Joe Lau, in setting up this year's website. This website was an invaluable resource for our parents and you provided Joe with shortcuts to get this up and running in record time.
Thanks to Nancy Lalena and Fran Yuricic for rounding up so many junior parents. Thanks to these parents we were able to see our children walk the red carpet from beginning to end. Thanks also to Robin Schroeder and her band of junior parents for getting the Hempstead House back into order. As alumni, we hope to be there for you when it is your turn.
We thank the many merchants and realtors who supported our fundraising efforts over the year. Ladies Night Out continues to be Gambol's huge gala event due in large part to your support, and without your sponsorship, Gambol Games could never have taken place. Thanks also to our school district for making the Schreiber gym available to us; and Brad Fitzgerald, for assisting us along the way. Gambol Games was a great day for so many of our younger students and it was made possible by the tremendous support of so many of our teachers, staff and administration district wide. Even the Port Washington Teachers Association participated. Thanks to junior parent, Donna Mezzetta, for being a driving force behind the success of this day.
Accolades to the many restaurants who contributed food for our children as they danced the night away on their final night together as Port Washington's graduating Class of '07. Your contributions are priceless to the Gambol and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thanks also to the many neighboring and local restaurants who, along with the Bank of Smithtown, gladly took part in Gambol's first time ever food, wine, and jazz tasting. It was a total success and we couldn't have done it without your involvement. Thank you also to our many senior parents who welcomed so many Gambol supporters into their homes for a progressive dinner that will always be remembered for its warmth and sophistication. So many parents enjoyed reconnecting with old acquaintances and it was a night that many will never forget.
Thank you to Maria Giamanco and Joe Del Gais for announcing our kids as they took to the red carpet, and for Neil Miller who proudly opened doors with parent Nancy Baldwin as this year's greeters. A tremendous thank you to Susie DeLuca for producing a poignant 60-minute clip for our children that will accompany this year's It's A Wrap: Gambol 2007 DVD; and for her leadership, along with co-chair Lillian Schenkler in designing this year's theme. Thanks also to Mayor Robert Weitzner of Port North and Armstrong Capital Management for allowing our parents to use the old Blockbuster site for set design and construction ... and to all our parents who spent night after night living there.
A big thanks to HSA co-presidents Lisa Alpert and Chris Pierce for working double time this year. They had their hands full but they provided us with whatever we needed to get the job done. Thanks also to Linda Weil for getting Gambol approved as a 501c3 organization. It was a mammoth job, but she did it in record time. Same thing goes to our board of education president Jean Marie Posner and to the mayor of Sands Point, Leonard Wurzel, who spent countless hours working on contractual details all because of their love for Gambol.
Kudos to Lt. Folo and all the officers of the Sands Point police who not only supervised the night's event, but went out of their way to help us acquire the many barricades needed for this night. Accolades also to Port Washington's fire marshal, Jim Penrose, and the many firefighters who served on duty that night. Your concern for our children is appreciated beyond words.
And finally, thanks to the many senior parents who stuck their necks out and chaired the many positions that make up the Gambol. Individually you did a great job fundraising, staying on top of our financials, beautifully designing our many graphics, publicizing our events, orchestrating set design, construction, mailings, raffle prizes, party favors, centerpieces, photos, ticket sales, security, gambling, coat check, ladies in waiting and handling the vast amount of food not just for the kids, but for the parents who worked well into the wee hours of the morning. It was quite an undertaking, but you did it so well. Heartfelt thanks to the many parents who attended the multiple fundraising events throughout the year. If not for you, there would be no Gambol.
Good luck to our seniors. May you enjoy this new phase of your life and find much happiness ahead of you. To see the joy on your faces made the time we put into Gambol well spent in every way. Congratulations to all.
