Five former members of the Port Washington Legends, coached by Manny Alas, led the Flyers to a 4-3 win over St. Johns the Baptist to capture the LI CHSAA championship. Kevin Alas, James Browley and Mike Padavano led Chaminade (20-3) with a league leading .338 batting average, while Mike Duranti and Matt Loosen led the pitching staff with a record-breaking 1.02 era. Padavano, Loosen and Duranti were named to the CHSAA all LI team, while Kevin Alas and Mike Duranti were named to the All Academic team. They join the other Port Washington Legends teammates who will go on to play college baseball next year. They are: Dan Barnes (Princeton), Chris Doscas (Johns Hopkins), Steve McGinnery (Salve Maria), Mike Padavano (Catholic), James Browley (Adelphi), Kevin Alas (William & Mary), Mike Duranti (Franklin & Marshall) and Matt Loosen (Jacksonville).
