League of Women Voters Discusses Long Island "Crisis"
At a special meeting of the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Port Washington-Manhasset, Dr. Ann Golob, Long Island Index Project Director, led a discussion on the topic "The Crisis on Long Island." The Long Island Index Project (the "Index"), which is funded by the Rauch Foundation, gathers and publishes data on the Long Island region on topics like the environment, housing, taxes, jobs, health, and education.

It was an enchanting and memorable evening for everyone who attended the Port Washington Education Foundation (PWEF) Gala at the Harbor Links Golf Course Clubhouse. The event brought many people together from within and outside of Port Washington to raise project funds and awareness of the work of the PWEF.

Former PW 'Legends' Lead Chaminade to Title
Five former members of the Port Washington Legends, coached by Manny Alas, led the Flyers to a 4-3 win over St. Johns the Baptist to capture the LI CHSAA championship. Kevin Alas, James Browley and Mike Padavano led Chaminade (20-3) with a league leading .338 batting average, while Mike Duranti and Matt Loosen led the pitching staff with a record-breaking 1.02 era.

From June 17-22, the population of tiny Block Island will swell by over 2,000 sailors while marinas fill with an extra 200 plus boats when the Storm Trysail Club arrives to coordinate--for its 22nd time--Block Island Race Week XXII (BIRW) presented by Rolex. One of the most popular sailing weeks in America, the event has repeated itself here biennially since 1965, offering competitors impeccably managed competition on the water and famously friendly rivalry ashore.
