On Saturday, April 21 the Weber Middle School Science Olympiad team finished 2nd in the New York State competition held at SUNY New Paltz. The team medaled in 12 out of a possible 25 events! The team will represent NY state in the National Science Olympiad to be held at Wichita State University on May 18 and May 19.

Team members include: Rachel Cohen, Matthew Heiden, Paul Hyman, Aditi Shroff, Jai Sajnani, Sahil Doshi, Elena Stabile, Dainn Woo, Leah Nash, Annabelle May, Clara Ahn, Ryohei Ozaki, Elizabeth Corteselli, Christina Zhou and Jillian Knoll. Alternates are Minah Kim, Jason Stewart, Hannah Blumberg, Jason Lee and Ethan Richards. The team is coached by Weber teachers Jack Grande and Cheryl Dodes.

Mr. Grande attributes the success of the team to the dedication and hard work that the team put in over the last five months of practice. The students met four or five times a week, coming in every Saturday since January and over the vacation periods. The team is looking forward to representing NY in this prestigious National Tournament.
