I am pleased and proud to offer my endorsement of Jean Marie Posner for re-election to the school board of the Port Washington School District. Anyone who has followed Jean Marie's long "career" of public service - all of which she happily does as a volunteer - would join me in stating that having Jean Marie on our school board is an invaluable gift to our community, and especially to our children.

I have known Jean Marie for many years, through many different community efforts. I cannot think of a more dedicated, driven, intelligent and Port Washington-committed person to serve on our school board. Jean Marie has also been an active board member of the Port Washington Education Foundation since its inception, has served as co-president of Manorhaven's PTA, is a board member of the Art Guild of Port Washington and the Port Washington Citizen's Center, serves as vice president of the Sands Point Civic Association, and the treasurer of the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve. She is also a member or avid supporter of almost every valuable local organization, including Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington, Friends of the Library, Discover the Smile Foundation, Landmark on Main Street, Athletic Association of Port Washington, Inter-Municipal Task Force of the Town of North Hempstead, Community Chest, our local chapter of the League of Women Voters, and the list goes on.

As evidenced by the many organizations Jean Marie has involved herself in, Jean Marie, parent of a Weber Middle School Student, loves her community and is dedicated to making it the very best it can be. She is an action-oriented person who walks into a meeting and focuses on solutions. She never shies away from long hours or hard work; instead, she thrives on it. Unlike many well-intentioned volunteers, Jean Marie does not only volunteer to take on projects, she always comes through as well. She can be relied upon 100 percent to do the research and carefully consider all points of view in reaching her conclusions on all issues before her.

Jean Marie's service on the school board since June 2004 has been exemplary. She has chaired numerous committees, such as Budget and Fiscal, Advisory Audit, Strategic Planning and Community Relations. She has also sat on numerous other board committees, and has spent countless hours since 2004 working hard to ensure that our educational system stimulates and best serves our students in a fiscally responsible manner. As a highly educated individual with work experience in the field of finance, and a diverse personal background, Jean Marie is uniquely poised to represent our community, and has certainly done a stellar job in doing so during the past three years.

Please get out and vote on May 15. It is important that our budget pass, and it is also important to hold onto Board Member Jean Marie Posner. Loss of her on our school board would result in a tremendous loss of energy, vitality and progress for our schools. It is important that every eligible voter get to the polls. Voting on May 15 takes only a few minutes of our time - but it is crucial to help the budget pass and to ensure we are able to keep smart, honest and dedicated individuals, such as Jean Marie Posner, in a position to serve our community best.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and more importantly, thank you in advance, for your support for Jean Marie Posner.
