Florence M. DeSalvo died on Nov. 26, 2006 at home. She was predeceased by her husband Mario J. DeSalvo. She was a resident of Port Washington for 50 years before moving to Kingston, NY in 2002.
She was a devoted homemaker, active in many Village of Manorhaven Civic groups and was candidate for village trustee. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church and was a former president of the Rosary Altar Society. Until recently, she was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Kingston and helped at her sons insurance agency.
She was born July 23, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, NY, to Saverio and Emilia Calano, and the youngest of nine children. Survivors include a daughter, Emily Doscher (Fred) of Nesconset, NY; three sons, Glen (Noreen) of Port Washington, Joseph (Barbara) of Delray Beach, FL, and Steven (Helena) of Kingston; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral was at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Donations can be made to: Mother Queen of Peace, PO Box 117, Glenwood Landing, NY 11547 where she met for Rosary and arranged Medagorje pilgrimages.
