Port Washington Library Foundation Third Inspiration Gala a Success
The Library's Third Inspiration Gala: A Celebration of Progress and Ideas raised over $145,000 for programs and services not funded by tax payer based support. Over 150 guests were treated to a fabulous evening at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links on Saturday, Oct. 14. F. William Schmergel, of Schmergel Enterprises, was honored with the Corporate Leadership Award. Community Leadership Awards were presented to Susan Isaacs, well-known Port Washington novelist, essayist and screenwriter, and Dr. Charles Rogers, chairman of the library's Health Advisory Council. The Honorable Leonard Wurzel, mayor of Sands Point, was honorary chair of the event. Dinner co-chairs were Elkan Abramowitz, Esq., of Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason & Silberberg, and Charles Berger, former chairman and CEO of Scotts Miracle Gro.

Indian Summer Memories of Cow Neck's Native Americans
November inevitably brings us memories of the Native Americans who helped the Pilgrims survive their harsh first year on this North American continent. As we celebrate with our Thanksgiving feasts we also need to remember that for thousands of years the Algonquins Tribes lived on this Cow Neck peninsula.

CYO Girls Volleyball Registration
Registration for the St. Peter's CYO Girls Volleyball Program will be held in the St. Peter's cafeteria on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Competitive teams can be formed for grades 6 through 12. A developmental clinic will be offered for 5th grade.
