Marie Porcelli, 76, of Port Washington, died on Oct. 17, 2006. Marie is survived by her brother Fred and three generations of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Felicia Porcelli and her siblings, Louisa Gresalfi, Frances Becker, Ralph and Sylvester. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
Al La Pera, 73, of Venice, FL, passed away on Oct. 19, 2006. He was born on Aug. 30, 1933 in Brooklyn. He retired after serving more than 30 years as a probation officer with the NC Dept. of Probation. Al held a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Alfred University, NY. He moved to Venice six years ago from Port Washington. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice, immediate past president of the Jacaranda Men's Club, Elks Lodge, served as a Sarasota County elections officer and volunteered with the Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of Venice; children, Richard La Pera, William La Pera, Lynn Cook, all of New York; brother Dick La Pera of New York; and five grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Ewing Funeral Home, Venice. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial Venice Memorial Gardens.
