(Ed.'s Note: The following letter was sent to Helen Chen, business manager of the PWWPCD and is printed here at the writer's request)
Thank you for sending me the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District ("PWWPCD") Budget Report for Fiscal, '07.
As an observer of the PWWPCD for some 25 years now, I am very proud of the PWWPCD. Every government agency in Nassau County should have and present a budget like yours. I am particularly delighted to see the district including a three-year financial plan, not just for capital projects, but for the total finances of the district. The effort that goes into such a great presentation of the history, purpose and finances of the district, reflects the pride the employees and commissioners have in the district. I would encourage all the taxing authorities in Port Washington to contact you to obtain a copy of the PWWPCD budget.
While there are areas and ways in which I believe the district could reduce costs as we have discussed in the past, overall, I believe the PWWPCD does an excellent job overseeing and managing the operations, costs, quality and fulfillment of the services it renders. My thanks and appreciation to all the employees and commissioners for a job well-done.
