  • News: Beloved Educators Chosen as PIP 2006 Parade Grand Marshals

    As part of the Pride in Port tradition, the committee selects an individual(s) or group as the parade's grand marshals. This year PIP 18 honored three highly thought of educators from Schreiber who have contributed to Port Washington not only as fine teachers and administrators, but also played important roles in securing the continued success of the annual Pride in Port celebration over many years.   • News: League of Women Voters Hosts Meeting on the Environment

    The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Port Washington-Manhasset recently sponsored a panel of experts to speak oN the subject of "Keeping Port Washington-Manhasset Green." Sue Fitzgerald, LWV's Land Use Chair, who moderated the meeting, pointed out "It is fitting that the panelists are named Pines [Jennifer Wilson-], Lake [April Brown], and Wood [Patti]." FULL STORY

    On a late summer day in mid-August, the Port Washington Legends 10 year old baseball travel team clinched the Glen Cove Mayor's Trophy championship by defeating a tough Glen Cove team in the championship game. FULL STORY

    It's that time of year again - time to get you and your boat over to Manhasset Bay YC for their Annual Fall Series, Oct. 14-15, and Oct. 21-22. This will be the 28th series which was started by John B. Thomson, Jr. who wanted to develop a high level big boat competition offering the joys of fall sailing on western Long Island Sound to its participants. As serious sailors all know, the best sailing is in the fall when the winds are up and the sailing is great. It's not too late to register for the event. The Fall Series is open to all owners and charterers of single-hull boats who are members of the YRA of LIS (Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound) or a US SAILING recognized club or association. There is an online entry form ( with a NOR (Notice of Race) online also. The scratch sheet as of Monday, Oct. 9 shows a great group of excellent competitors, so you won't want to miss this exciting event.
