Grassroots Environmental Education Partners With Long Island Counties
To understand Grassroots Environmental Education of Port Washington try to imagine a very talented juggler with 10 balls in the air instead of the usual three. Some of the balls (or programs) are the Grassroots Healthy Lawn Program (GHLP), The ChildSafe School, Environmental Education programs in the schools, Breast Cancer Prevention education, the Dodge Farm program that provides vegetables to a local food distribution center and the Port Washington Farmers' Market.

On the Bay
It's not too late to join the festivities over at the Port Washington YC for their 9th Annual Charity Cup Regatta. It is this Saturday, Oct.7. This is a day race and family fun day for the benefit of Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Attractions include racing for PHRF, IRC, one design, spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. In addition to racing on Manhasset Bay, there will be children's activities (Ronald McDonald will be present to entertain all the children), tennis tournaments, and the heated pool will be open. At the conclusion of racing, there will be an awards dinner with a DJ, exciting raffles and a live auction. So get yourself over to PWYC for a fun day of racing and family entertainment - and help raise money for a very good cause. There is no rain date for this event.
