The employees of the Port Washington Public Library wish to thank Mr. Schiff for his kind letter of support (Port Washington News, 7/27/06), and the many others who have expressed concern regarding our library contract negotiations. We value our patrons greatly and want to continue providing the best service possible to the community. Unfortunately, the current situation has not improved. Our second meeting with the mediator and library representative was ineffective. There has been no meaningful change in their position.

Therefore, we are again requesting that the library board and administration support the staff by engaging in good faith negotiations with the Staff Association in order to achieve a fair and equitable contract.
