Joan Peterson, widow of Raymond Peterson and long time resident of Port Washington, died June 18, 2006 of cancer. She is survived by her three sisters, Evelyn Snyder, Ca-lie Merritt and Beverly Butler and her brother Brian Snyder. She was adored by her grandchildren and treasured by her friends. She was a champion Scrabble player who loved to play with her daughter-in-law Mary Peterson and enjoyed going to the senior center at St. Stephen's. She would want to send a special thank you to Dr. Lebtikin, Judy and staff for their 21 years of extraordinary care and kindness. She was laid to rest with her husband at Nassau Knolls on June 20. She will be missed. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington.
