Schreiber High School Boys Track team won two first-places at the Nassau County Championships. Richard Schmitz won the 1600 with a time of 4.28 and took All-County honors in the 3200. Arnold Donado won the shot put, with his personal best of 47'2". There were 36 competitors in the shot put. Arnold said, "I was very excited to win. It's a great way to end the season. I thank my coaches, Coach Laff and Coach Cooper for teaching and working with me to raise my skill level in the shot put event."
Other members on the team who performed well and contributed points to the team's score, placing them seventh in the county, are: Ebube Abara, Carlos Molina, Matt Wolfe, Matias Pena and Jose DeLa Rosa. The spread of nine points kept Port out of the top five teams in the county.
On the Girls Track Team, Filiz Kipcakli took first place in the county on the shot put with a score of 34'3. Filiz was estastic, she said, "This is my first year on the team and I am just thrilled on winning the shot put at the county meet."
