Nicholas Simeone, 93, of Port Washington, formerly of Greenvale, died on April 26, 2006. Husband of the late Ann. Father of Joseph, John, James and Marie Wilson. Pop-pop of Mallory, Vicki, Johnny Jr., Jody, Joseph, Russ Jr., Tim, Nick, Christine and Jenny. Pop-pop to 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Peter of Alcantara Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
Daria Ann Markowski died May 25, 2006 at the age of 32. Beloved daughter of Stan Markowski of Port Washington and Ellen and Robert Malkin of Cincinnati, OH; dear sister of Stanley Markowski of Walnut Creek, CA and Dr. Carrie Justine Grimsrud of Oslo, Norway; beloved granddaughter of Rose Roberts; fiancé of Hinton Howard of Cincinnati.
While in Cincinnati, Daria worked in Mental Health Care Services. She assisted the developmentally disabled with living and functioning skills for their transition into mainstream society. Daria devoted her entire life to helping those around her who were less fortunate and in pain. Daria was raised in Port Washington, and graduated from Paul D. Schreiber High School in 1992. She went on to attend the George Washington University and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. She relocated to Cincinnati in 2003. Services were held for her by her family in Cincinnati, OH on May 30.
A memorial service will be held on June 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the private room in Finn MacCool's Restaurant, 205 Main St., Port Washington. Because of Daria's interests in the criminal justice system, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Daria's name to Citizens United For Alternatives To The Death Penalty, PO Box 335, 2603 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, Gainesville, FL, 32609.
LeRoy D. Clarke, 82, of Port Washington, died on May 30, 2006. LeRoy was predeceased by his wife Stella. He is survived by his children Sandra Linthicum (Richard) and William (Diane) and his grandchildren, Scott, Thomas, Lindsay, Jillian and Sean. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. A memorial service was held on June 4 at the Congregational Church of Manhasset. Interment private.
