Nine out of 11 starters on the Girls Varsity Badminton Team qualified to play in the Conference Championships. There are 14 matches during the regular season and if a player has at least eight wins they qualify to play at the Conference Championships. There are four conferences in badminton. The winners at each conference will meet and compete for the Nassau County Championship.
Two players from Port Washington won at the conference. In the first singles position, Laila Selim and in second singles, Katrina Fahey; both players now advance to the County Championships. Coach Andi Uiberall said, "I am extremely proud of my team this season. Each year the team gets stronger and this is a record for us having nine players competing in the Conference Championship. For some of these girls, it is their first year on the team and playing on the starting line-up and for some, they were alternates last year. It's been a big jump and they have met the challenge."
