Luciana Farina (nee Brutti), 81, of Port Washington, died on March 19, 2006. She was predeceased by her husband Martino. She is survived by her son Harry (Debbie); her grandchildren, Devyn, Steven and Michael; her sister Carla; and her nieces and nephews Rosanna and Giovanna. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
Antoinette Scobbo died March 27, 2006 at age 93 after a short illness. She was born at home Feb. 17, 1913. She was one of eight children, the second oldest daughter of Dominic and Nicolette Frappaolo. Her family started the Italian bakery in 1905 and she delivered bread to the surrounding Italian neighborhood pulling a wagon loaded with bread.
Her maternal grandparents were Carmela Raimo and Michele Bottiglieri. Her paternal grandparents were Rachele Calabrese and Nicolo Frappaolo. These families were from Volturara Irpina, Avellino, Italy.
She attended Port Washington local schools. On Sept. 14, 1941 she married her childhood sweetheart Nicholas Scobbo. They were able to celebrate 60 years together in 2001.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter of Alcantara Church. Her father physically helped to build the church. She was a past member of Catholic Daughters Court Alcantara #654 and the Ladies Guild. She volunteered for many functions at St. Peter's.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nick; her sisters, Rachel Marra and Mary Frappaolo; and her brothers, Nicholas, Salvatore and Genari. She is survived by her son Ronald R. Scobbo MD (Jeanne); her daughter JoAnne C. Scobbo; her son Nicholas J. Scobbo Jr. (Mary); grandchildren, Nicholas J. Scobbo III (Kelly), Katherine and Julia; her sister Florence Frappaolo; her brother Mauri Frappaolo (Joan); sisters-in-law, Lee Nunziata, Marie Hahn and Stel Frappaolo; brother-in-law Frank Scobbo (Phyllis); and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection was said at St. Peter of Alcantara Church on March 1. Interment was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.
