At various locations throughout town the midnight oil burns brightly as Port Washington-Manhasset Chapter of Cancercare volunteers rehearse for their opening night, March 23, at the Schreiber High School Auditorium. As they translate their words, music and dance from paper to a theatrical extravaganza, the revue begins to take shape. An all-volunteer show, "Red Stocking" provides a showcase for talent that is repressed for nine months and miraculously comes to life when the "Red Stocking Cast Call" awakens it in March to rehearse for three weeks, perform for four days and raise a lot of money for the benefit of cancer patients, their families and care-givers. That is really what it is all about.

Rehearsing for one of the now-famous "Red Stocking" men's acts are (l to r) Leon Jankowski, John O'Neill, John Squires, Carlo Gennarelli, Bob Trombley and Tom Faticone. These local boys know how to whoop it up for the benefit of those in need. You can enjoy their singing, dancing and other entertaining behaviors by buying a ticket and coming to the 2006 Red Stocking Revue at Schreiber High School, March 23-26 (see article for details). The Port Washington Manhasset Chapter of Cancercare doesn't just ask for a donation. They give you something in return.
