C. Fred Kellner Jr., of Olean, NY, died on Dec. 24, 2005 at home following a long illness.
Born March 6, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, the son of Carlton Frederick Sr. and Jessie Taylor Kellner (both deceased) of Port Washington. Fred moved to Port Washington with his parents as a young boy and he graduated from Schreiber High School in 1967. After graduation, he moved to Olean to build a home in Rock City on the family property owned since 1911 and known as "The Camp."
He worked in local businesses as a master machinist. He always owned heavy equipment, so Kellner Excavating Co. was formed in 1977. In 1980 he purchased his first oil lease and became an oil producer, which later developed into Kellner Pump Systems. His two sons are running the business today in Olean.
Surviving are his two sons, Mark T. (Susie) Kellner and Chris F. (Tracey) Kellner; and grandchildren, Andy, Lydia, Jocelyn, and Brianna; two surviving sisters, Nancy (Stuart) Metz and children, Roger and Sandra Ellen of Wolfboro, NH, and Jean Kyser and children, David, Virginia and Roger of Olean; also three children of Suzanne K. Canfield (deceased) and Don D. Canfield of Port Washington, Don III of Carson City, NV, Barrett C. of San Diego, CA, and Betsy T. of Sandpoint, IN. Surviving also are Jacqueline (Schaflein) Kellner, estranged wife, mother of Mark and Chris, and his loving companion of many years, Debbie Baker, both of Olean.
