Bonita (Bonnie) Joan Buriel, born March 29, 1943 in Port Washington, passed away peacefully at home in Delray Beach, FL, July 28, 2005. She was the daughter of Chris and Blanche Santaniello of Port Washington and niece of Catherine (Sandy) Santaniello. Bonnie received her BA from Adelphi University, a diploma from the New York University in Spain Program and an MA from NYU in Madrid. She was a college professor of Spanish and Italian at Ohio Wesleyan University and Nassau Community College. A Funeral Mass was held on Aug. 1 at Emmanuel Catholic Church of Delray Beach. Interment Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery I Royal Palm Beach, FL.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Juan H. Burial; her mother Blanche Santaniello; sister Carol Spencer; nephew Theodore Spencer; and other family members. She is also survived by Robert L. Dalton, childhood friend, and Dr. William J. Calvano, devoted college friend. A scholarship for future students at NCC will be established in her memory.

Joseph E. Martins, 76, of Port Washington, died on Nov. 21, 2005. He is survived by his wife Joan; his daughters, Janine Scheibe (Thomas), Joanne Rea (Gary) and June Shuett (Lee); and his grandchildren Sam, Alex, Emily and Julie. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial Our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. Martha L. De Acetis (nee Tolmie), age 66, of Port Washington, died on Nov. 27, 2005. She is survived by her husband Bartholomew; her daughter Laura Marie; and her siblings, Judith and David. Martha is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Graveside service at Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Priscilla K. Schappell passed away quietly on Dec. 2, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital. A longtime resident of Musney Park, followed by Houston, TX, Priscilla was an avid sailor and sportswoman as well as a long-time member of Port Washington Yacht Club and more recently Manhasset Bay Yacht Club. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arthur; and her daughters, Priscilla and Nan, both of whom live in Manhasset. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Georgia and Kelly, as well as her grandsons, Fred and Kevin. A memorial service was held at Fairchild Sons in Manhasset on Dec. 6 followed by a graveside service at Nassau Knolls. Logo
