Do you remember the two 325-foot transmitting towers that stood where present-day Radcliff Avenue is now situated? Port Washington with its own transmitter plant and towers was an important radio center in the United States. Not too many Port Washingtonians recall seeing those towers which were demolished in 1963.

The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) had their annual board meeting on Nov. 17, and voted in Sydney Jacoff as the new chairman of the board of trustees. Stephen Walsh passes the mantle on to Jacoff after serving as chairman for the past two years.

On Dec. 16 and 17, Schreiber High School will be hosting "The 15th Annual Lady Vikings Holiday Tournament. The first round will be on Friday, as Roslyn HS will play Division at 5 p.m. and Port will play Sewanhaka at 7 p.m. The second round will be on Saturday, with the consolation round at noon and the championship game at 2 p.m. Admission to all the games is free. What a great opportunity to support the team and the community. Most importantly, young girls are encouraged to attend, cheer and be inspired!
