Barbara Goldstein with her husband, Dan

Landmark On Main Street is pleased to announce the honorees for its annual fund-raising gala, GOLD COAST GALA XI: "Live From The Landmark Ballroom," which will be held Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at The Reckson Center at the Museums at Mitchel-The Cradle of Aviation, Garden City, New York. Honorees are Barbara Goldstein and Joan and Donald Everett Axinn.

Barbara Goldstein is a founder of Landmark on Main Street, a not-for-profit organization created to save and restore for community use a former school, now a community center. Barbara, through her tireless efforts and support, including service as the organization's president, helped to shape Landmark's vision and to convert the Landmark building, now nearly 100 years old and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, into a vibrant community center serving individuals in Port Washington and neighboring communities. Landmark is home to the beautiful Jeanne Rimsky Theater which provides high quality programs ranging from community theater and town hall meetings to world famous talent. Landmark is also home to three wonderful not-for-profit organizations-the Port Washington Children's Center, the Port Washington Parent Resource Center and the Teen Center. The building also provides housing for low-income seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Axinns are generous contributors to the community and to the region. Mr. Axinn has twice been a guest speaker in Landmark's Jeanne Rimsky Theater, most recently this season directly following a presentation of his movie Spin, based on his novel and featuring Stanley Tucci. The Axinns have helped to create and/or support many Long Island-based organizations and educational institutions, including, but not limited to, the Interfaith Nutritional Network, The Nature Conservancy of Long Island and Hofstra University.

Gala leadership includes Co-Chairs: Robert Harding, Harding Real Estate, Lillian McCormick, Women on the Job and Landmark co-founder, and Dot and Ed Slade; Honorary Chairs: Debbie and Scott Rechler, Reckson Associates, and Hon. Thomas R. Suozzi, Nassau County Executive; and Honorary Vice-Chair: Angela Anton, publisher, Anton Community Newspapers.

Landmark co-president, Frank Ullman, praised the stellar lineup, saying, "Landmark is grateful and fortunate to have the support of these outstanding individuals." He went on to add "We are excited about our new gala venue, the Cradle of Aviation, which provides a stunning space that is also very comfortable for everyone."

Along with fine dining and dancing, the elegant evening will feature a performance by cabaret star Eric Comstock whom the New York Times and others have praised for his talent, wit and style.
