Educational Groups Fail to Appear at Public Forum
Board of education members, Port school administrators and the Port schools teacher's union failed to appear at a public forum sponsored by the General Council of Homeowner Associations held on Monday, June 6 at the Port Library. In a letter to the council, School Superintendent Geoffrey Gordon said such a meeting would be premature since the revised budget would not be finalized until the following day, June 7.

At the board of education budget work session on June 1, the administration presented a revised budget of $107,785,733, which was $1,027,600 less than the budget that was defeated on May 17.

Repeat Performance: Girls Varsity Badminton Team Wins County
Congratulations to The Girls Varsity Badminton Team for winning "The Nassau County Team Championship." After a very competitive season and three rounds in the county play-offs, the Ladybird Vikings once again clenched a county title. Last year was the first time in Port Washington history that badminton won a county title.

On the Bay
There is a lot to report about activity on Manhasset Bay over the past few weeks. In what seemed like an interminable wait for spring-like weather, we were finally rewarded for our patience with great weather. The Race Committee from Knickerbocker YC was able to give starts to racers all three days of Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, May 28, the Sonars had two races.
