On behalf of the executive board and the board of directors of the Community Chest of Port Washington, I appeal to all Port Washington residents and businesses to help the Community Chest meet its 2004-2005 Annual Red Feather Campaign fundraising goal of $325,000. Now in its final weeks, the campaign is still $45,000 short of its goal.

Everyone who lives or works in Port Washington benefits from the work of the Community Chest. The money it raises each year is distributed to local charities that provide child care, scholarships, services for senior citizens, counseling, health care, after-school activities for children and teenagers and other important services that help keep our community strong, safe and vibrant. Many of these charities have little or no other funding source. Support from the Community Chest is critical to their ability to provide programs and services to Port Washington. Support from local businesses and residents is essential to the Community Chest's ability to fund these organizations.

Normally we wrap up the campaign in the end of May. This year, we are extending it until June 30 and urge those of you who have not yet made a contribution to this year's campaign to do so in the coming weeks. Whether you can give $5 or $500 dollars, please send your donation to the Community Chest of Port Washington, PO Box 648, Port Washington, NY 11050.

If you are new to Port Washington and aren't familiar with the Community Chest, you can learn more about us and the charities we support by visiting our website at If you have put off making a donation to the Community Chest, please wait no longer - we need your help now.
