State Funding for Baywalk Park Project
State Senator Michael Balboni (R-East Williston) announced that the Town of North Hempstead and the Village of Port Washington North will receive funding from New York State for the Bay Walk Park Project.

PWEF Dessert Extravaganza an Enormous Success
A festive array of sumptuous desserts was offered to the guests at the Port Washington Education Foundation (PWEF)'s annual gala at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club. More than 250 people, including elected and appointed officials, members of the board of education, community leaders, and PWEF board and committee members, attended the third PWEF's fund raiser. A good time was had by all, while raising over $50,000 for the foundation's many worthwhile educational projects.

Dame Ellen MacArthur - has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Last week at Buckingham Palace, the Queen appointed MacArthur The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire to be Dame Commander, making her the youngest person ever to be named a Dame. This was in recognition of MacArthur's single-handed round-the-world voyage that beat the record set by Francis Joyon - a 27,000 miles voyage completed in 72 days, and less than 15 hours in her 75-foot trimaran B&Q. After crossing the finish line at Lorient in France, the 28-year-old sailor remarked, "I always believed I could break the record, and Francis agreed it was breakable.
