You are correct in stating the town is fuming, but not all are fuming about an allegedly incorrect story concerning the rate of car thefts in Port Washington. (Incorrect story Jan. 28.)
Many are fuming about Port Washington's midtown Manhattan-like traffic problem. We're fuming that local newspapers and elected politicians have decided to take a Pravda approach toward Port Washington's traffic situation. Don't discuss the line of cars on Main Street. Don't discuss the backup turning left from Port Washington Boulevard onto Main Street. Don't discuss the complaints aired by school children when they come running in from the cold claiming their bus was stuck in traffic. Don't even demonstrate the gumption to take a photograph of snarled traffic in Port Washington.
To do any of that would be to step on the manicured toes of realtors, real estate agents and brokers. And, after all, isn't it the purpose of a community newspaper to keep advertisers happy?
Oh yes, we are fuming. Just not fuming about statistical errors.
