Michael J. Matero, age 68, of Port Washington died on Sept. 28, 2004. He is survived by his wife Karen, his children Deborah (Jay), Michael and Vincent (Jane) and his grandchildren Paul, Sarah and Emily. Michael is also survived by his brothers Anthony and Vincent, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles, Inc. Funeral Home. A memorial Mass was celebrated on Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. The interment was private.
Catherine Lauretta Bagnasco (nee Lamb) passed away on Oct. 1, 2004 at the age of 91. Catherine was the beloved wife of Dante, loving mother of John, Dante Jr., and Cathy Peraner, and is fondly remembered by nine grandchildren. Born in Manhattan on January 15, 1914, her family moved to Great Neck where she attended St. Aloysius Elementary School and Great Neck High School. She is an alumnus of Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY. On June 29, 1946 Catherine married Dante V. Bagnasco. They resided in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn until moving to Port Washington in October 1951. Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles, Inc. Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 6, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. The interment followed at Holy Rood Cemetery. Donations in her memory to the LI Alzheimer's Foundation, 5 Channel Drive, Port Washington, NY 11050 would be greatly appreciated.
