On Columbus Day, Monday Oct. 11, Port Washington Youth Activities will hold it seventh annual golf outing, sponsored by Finn Mac Cool's restaurant.
The event will be held at the Village Club of Sands Point on Middle Neck Road. The day's events will commence with a continental breakfast at 10:30 a.m., registration at 11 and a "shotgun" start at noon. A barbecue lunch is also included, as is access to full use of the club's locker facilities.
Upon completion of the day's round, all golfers will then move onto Finn Mac Cool's on Main Street at 6 p.m. for the awards dinner and prize raffle, compliments of the restaurant and its owner, Connie O'Reilly.
The donation for the outing, which includes the dinner, is $200/golfer. Those wishing to attend the dinner only and not play golf may do so for a smaller donation of $80. Sponsor levels from $150 to $1,000 are still available, as are opportunities for prize donations for the accompanying raffle.
Since its inception in 1998, the PYA Golf Outing has grown from an initial 70 golfers to a total of 145 last year. It is PYA's premier fund-raising event during the fall and has generated nearly $100,000 in net proceeds to the organization during that time. That surplus from the outing has traditionally been used to fund additional operating needs and grow PYA's programs that impact more than 2,000 children annually in Port Washington.
Further information on the golf outing is available at Arena Sports Store at 52 Main Street, or by calling the outing chairman Nick DeMeo at 944-6573, PYA Executive Director Ron Henderson at 944-3077, or Steve Avazis of Arena Spots at 767-5108.
