Winifred Baim and Dr. Maurice Baim

Winifred Baim, wife of the late Dr. Maurice Baim, passed away peacefully on Sept. 10 in her home on Beacon Hill Rd. where she has lived for the past 53 years. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hospital for Poor Children, specializing in pediatric nursing, and ran the pediatric ward at St. Lukes and Flushing Hospitals before marrying her beloved husband. They came to Port Washington in 1938 when he opened his medical practice and she remained his nurse throughout all the years he was in practice. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's shortly after Dr. Baim passed away seven years ago. In keeping with her wishes, a graveside service and burial was held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Louis Baim of Port Washington and Paul Baim of Huntington, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was 95 years old.
Winifred Graney of Yorktown, VA, formerly of Port Washington, passed away on Sept. 21. Beloved wife of the late Gerald. Loving mother of Robert (Susan) Graney, Brian (Doreen) Graney, Marilyn (George) Lehmuller and the late Gerald (Karin) Graney, Jr. Dear sister of Eugene Prentice, Maxine Tonn and John Prentice. Cherished grandmother of Heidi, James, Katherine, Elizabeth, Victoria, Peter, Brian, Sean, Kirsten, Jeryl, Louise and Marilyn. Arrangements through Whitting Funeral Home. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington.
