    School board member Dr. Roy Nelson described this year's winner of the prestigious Bogart Scholarship as being "first among peers, with superb academic achievements, demonstrated leadership and an outstanding breadth of participation in a wide range of co-curricular activities."   • Sports: Get Ready Now for Fall Sports at School

    All students interested in joining a sport this fall must attend a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 3:10 p.m. in the Weber gymnasium. The fall sports include: Field hockey, football, cross country, boys and girls soccer and girls tennis. Positions for team managers and scorekeepers also need to be filled. At this meeting students will meet the coaches and be given an orientation on the guidelines and regulations for athletic participation. All students must be medically "cleared" to participate; this includes a physical and an Interim Health Form (purple) which needs to be on file by Aug. 27 with the school nurse. Students are required to have seen the Sports Warning film. It was shown in their physical education classes in June. If a student did not view it, it will be shown on the following dates: 8/20, 26, 27 and 30 in the Wrestling Room at Schreiber at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on 9/8 in the Weber Gym at 3:20 p.m. Late buses will be running on Sept. 8 for the students.   • Sports: Junior Regatta Benefits Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation

    The Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation (LIAF) was the honored beneficiary of monies raised by the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club's (MBYC) Junior Regatta. Called "A Regatta to Remember," the July 25 event enlisted over 30 young sailors from various local yacht clubs to compete in the day's sailboat races. FULL STORY Logo
