During the past several months, I have received an increasing number of complaints from residents of Port Washington about the poor quality of our electric service. The number and duration of power outages seems to be increasing significantly.
I have contacted LIPA and requested that these outages be addressed. Unfortunately, the response has been that Port Washington is not experiencing a severe problem and has a high level of service. This position is contrary to everything people are telling me. It appears that we need to gather as much data on our own and present it to LIPA in order to persuade them to take action.
I am asking you to contact me with specifics regarding any troubles with your electric service (when, for how long, types of problems). I plan on bundling these complaints and delivering them to LIPA.
Until we can reduce outages, LIPA suggests residents contact the LIPA Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-490-0075 and report any problem they are experiencing.
Thank you for your help. I look forward to hearing from you and to using your responses to encourage LIPA to find a solution.
