The Lady Vikings High School Softball Team had one of their best seasons with 15 wins and one loss. The team made up of three seniors, six juniors, two sophomores and two freshman were originally ranked 12th seed, yet finished as Champions of the Class AA Conference II.

Ms. Erin Fealy, (who was named coach of the year), stated that the team's motto was: " We will strive to lead our league through hard work, dedication and constant improvement. We will help each other to stay positive and communicate. We will be unified in our quest for success while having fun."

Fealy, along with her assistant, Coach Jeanne Carroll, helped the girls stay focused on team and individual goals by referencing a list of key words. These included "listen, keeping control, aggressive, concentrate, endurance, team player, mental game, working hard and staying low" to name a few. Their team goals used key words like "fun, unified, communication, comfort levels, positive attitudes, upbeat and trust." By using the above as a guide the Lady Vikings took their division by storm.

The team scored 210 runs against only 45 scored against them. They had a team batting average of .412 with an on base average percentage of .608. They hit a total of 8 homeruns with 105 runs batted in.

One of the highlights and long standing traditions of the Lady Vikings Softball team has been the "Tribute To the Seniors Players " held during the last home game. This year the juniors presented the seniors and team captains Nicole DeMeo, Nicole Zdrojeski and Michelle Kornblau with speeches, poems, flowers and hugs of goodbye and good luck in college. They will be attending colleges of Marist, Fairfield and Michigan. After the ceremony and after game picnic, courtesy of Harbor Deli, was enjoyed by students and parents.

It should be noted the following awards were given. All County Player was Nicole DeMeo. All Conference Players was Michelle Kornblau and freshman Angela Matinale. The Scholar Athlete was senior Outfielder Nicole Zdrojeski.

Nicole DeMeo was given the honor of giving a speech and opening the Nassau County Softball Awards Dinner on June 7th. Logo
