Leonard J. Rautenberg, 84, resident of Sands Point for 34 years before moving to Manhasset. A graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he was a lieutenant in the US Navy, serving in the Pacific during WWII. He was retired president of Darlington Fabrics Corporation and past president and still-active board member of the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center. He was married to Marie for close to 55 years. Father of Ellen, Tom and the late Robert. The family requests that contributions be made to the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, 480 Old Westbury Rd., Roslyn Heights, NY 11577-2215 and/or Kerry for President.

Dominick D'Alonzo, long time resident of Port Washington, age 88, died on May 3, 2004. Devoted husband of Angelina. Loving father of Augie D'Alonzo (Rita), Carmella Dory (Steve Abramowitz), Angela Susan D'Alonzo, Dominick D'Alonzo Jr. (Maria) and Virginia Sikes (Ben). Adored grandfather of eight. Great-grandfather of five. Caring brother of Esther Contato.

Dominick was born in Abruzzi, Italy, and emigrated to Port Washington at the age of 13. During WWII he worked at Grumman Aircraft as a quality assurance supervisor for the P-47 Thunderbolt. In 1938 he founded Reliable Landscaping, which continues to be successfully operated by his family. Dominick was an avid boater and captain of his boat, the Angela Mia.

Dominick was a lifetime member of the Sons of Italy, the Knights of Columbus, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Little Neck Bay Sail & Power Squadron.

A proud member of Brave Hearts of St. Francis Hospital, Dominick survived heart surgery in 2001. Contributions can be made in memory of Dominick D'Alonzo to Brave Hearts of St. Francis Hospital, 100 Port Washington Blvd., Roslyn, NY 11576 (562-6785).

A Mass was held at St. Peter of Alcantara Church on May 6. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. His family and friends will dearly miss him. The family wishes to thank all those in attendance and those who gave comfort and support.

Irene Blickers (nee Ruskowski), of Port Washington, died on May 8, 2004. Irene is survived by her husband Joseph, nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Dora Capobianco, 102, of Port Washington, died on April 15, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband Dominick and her son Philip C. Dora is survived by her children Nicholas of Florida, Antoinette Grella of New Jersey and Helen Raduazzo of New York, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village. Donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, 10 Cottonwood Rd., Port Washington, NY 11050. Logo
