Elections in the villages of Port Washington North, Baxter Estates and Flower Hill will take place on Tuesday, March 16, from noon to 9 p.m. In an unusual turn of events, none of these elections are contested ones.
In Port Washington North, Trustee Robert Weitzner is seeking re-election. The other trustee seat up this year is open, as Janet Orloff announced that she is stepping down. For her position, Steven Cohen, who ran unsuccessfully last year, will run. The election will take place at the Port Washington North Village Hall, 1 Soundview Drive.
In Baxter Estates, Trustee Jacqueline McGowen will not seek re-election. Vivian Schneck will run for that seat. Trustee John Maher will be running for another term.
Additionally, Arthur John Golder III is running for the newly created village justice position, which he had been appointed to recently when the village court was created. The election will take place at the Baxter Estates Village Hall, located at 2 Harbor Road.
In Flower Hill Mayor James Damascus is running for re-election as are Deputy Mayor William Clemency and trustees Norman Glavas and Ann Frankel. Village Justice Bruce Byrne is also seeking re-election. The election will take place at the Flower Hill Village Hall, 1 Bonnie Heights Road.
The villages of Manorhaven and Sands Point hold their elections in June.
