I was reminded of what a wonderful town we live in when some friends and I attended a concert at the Rimsky Theater at Landmark last weekend. We were all glad to spend a Saturday night in Port and were treated to the musical and vocal talents of Laura Kaye and the Mark Wood Band. Laura and Mark live and work in Port. While they are not as famous as some of our other home-grown musicians like Sousa and Ritchie, they have plenty of style, grace and rock and roll. Mark's father went to the same Main Street School that has since been transformed into the Landmark complex. And listening to their music in an intimate setting and being able to walk home afterwards just made the evening even more special.

The music was terrific and in addition to seeing such a talented couple, we got to hear some of Port's own students as backup performers during the concert. That kind of inclusion and Port-centricity was a delight, and taking advantage of more opportunities like this evening is yet another reason why I enjoy living here.

Kudos to all who were involved in this event.
