The 52nd Schreiber High School Gambol held on Friday, June 27 at the Hempstead House in the Sands Point Preserve was a huge success for the 434 guests and a visual treat for the hundreds of spectators who came to tour the castle and view the grand entrance. FULL STORY

Getting a copy of your birth certificate or marriage license in the town is now a piece of cake. "Wedding or birthday, take your pick," so says Michelle Schimel, North Hempstead Town Clerk and Registrar. On June 30, a Dedication Ceremony officially opened the town's newly renovated Office of Vital Records. A symbolic ribbon was cut, however, during the months of construction this office remained open offering full services to the public. FULL STORY

On Sunday July 7, Knickerbocker YC held their annual Day Race. Nine Sonars, five KODs and 5 MBOs were on the starting line on a day that brought bright sunshine, and enough wind for the PHRF boats to sail two races on Long Island Sound, and the One design classes to sail four races (three for the MBOs) in the bay. At the conclusion of racing, all teams gathered at KYC for great munchies and libation. Royal Blue (T. Sinnickson, Esq.) won the PYA Major League Championship on Thursday, June 26 at Lions Field, 3 - 1 against Navy Blue (Pond & Pond, Esq.). It was a hard fought pitching duel between Royal's Jeff Froccaro and Navy's Robert Furino. Dylan Sinnickson had the game-winning hit, a line-drive triple in the bottom of the fifth. Jeff Froccaro struck out 10 batters and was named the championship game MVP. Sam Herzig and Joey Ramos had two hits for Royal and Ethan Sander had three hits for Navy. FULL STORY
