March '03: Moving From Blueprints to Bricks
A jubilant group met at Schreiber High School to celebrate the ground breaking for the new addition to the high school. Construction Committee Chair, school board member Julie Meyer, proudly announced that the community can look forward to many exciting improvements at the high school. These include 18 general classrooms, three special education rooms, five science rooms, a new technology, art and music wing with a display area, a new auxiliary gym, expanded cafeteria, new library/media center and improved circulation. In addition, major alterations include art rooms, computer rooms, orchestral band room, special ed. rooms and a student commons area.

Schreiber Academic Decathlon Team Captures State Title for Third Year in a Row
The Schreiber High School Academic Decathlon Team won the State Championship for the 3rd year in a row. This year the Upstate teams were determined to end Schreiber's dominance of the competition. The competition was very close but Schreiber emerged as the champions. They will now compete in the Nationals that will be held in Pennsylvania.

On The Bay
Spring has arrived in our beautiful peninsula, as evidenced by the activity both on and off the water. The wind and weather gods have been good to the Frostbiters - finally - and they enjoyed another fine Sunday of racing on Manhasset Bay. Spotted over on the Mill Pond were two gentlemen in a rowboat, placing markers in the pond for the model yachts that sail with the Mill Pond Model YC. And many boats that had been shrink-wrapped for the winter are now open to the elements, and their owners have been spotted on deck preparing for the spring sailing season. It won't be long now!

With the budding of the flowers and the melting of snow, spring is finally ready to emerge. Spring sport practices are in full swing and spring seasons are beginning very soon. With many returning players and even some new faces, the Lady Vikings are ready to take it to the next level.
