Three Schreiber Students Named Siemens Semifinalists
Schreiber High School students Joseph Jailer-Coley, Andrew Pariser and Jarryd Levine have been named semifinalists in the annual Siemens Westinghouse Competition in science, mathematics and technology.

Special Districts LWV Debate
Two special district elections are contested this year: the Police District and the Garbage District. Running for the post of police commissioner is incumbent James Duncan and challenger Frank T. Scobbo, Jr. These candidates bios and platforms ran in last week's issue of the Port News. At that time, we assumed both candidates would debate at the League of Women Voter's Candidates' Night held on Nov. 18. However, Mr. Scobbo was unable to attend the debate. Reportedly, he had late notification of the debate (the Friday immediately preceding Nov. 18) and had two commitments, one related to the fire department and the other of a political nature, which he could not reschedule. Therefore, Mr. Duncan spoke of his accomplishments over the past six years. His comments are on page three in the article titled "Debate Coverage."

On The Bay
Sonar Fleet #11 held their Annual Awards dinner at the Manhasset Bay YC on Saturday, Nov. 9. One of the fastest growing fleets on Long Island Sound, the Sonar dinner was a capacity crowd, attended by the largest number of sailors in recent years. After what was described as a "sumptuous" dinner, Herb Schmidt, fleet captain, announced the winners in their respective categories.

PAL-PYA Senior Division Football Championship
This past Sunday, the 1st place trophy was on the line in the PAL-PYA Senior Division (6-7 grade) at Lion's Field, as the undefeated Royal Blue team, with a record of 3-0-2, played the Black "Raiders," who had a record of 3-1-1. Earlier in the season, the two teams played to a 6-6 tie in a game that featured lots of hard hitting. This time around, the Black "Raiders" prevailed 26-0 to take home the trophy.
