In the PYA/PAL Junior Football League, on Sunday, Oct. 27 the first game between Oklahoma in Red, sponsored by Manhasset Community Chest and Penn State in White, sponsored by Port Washington Tennis Academy ended in a scoreless tie. For the Red, Cody White, Frank Morelli, Ben Gonzalez who recovered a fumble, Colin Sauvigne, Craig Medwick, and Ethan Sander played well. For the White, Jason DeSimone made a number of fine runs, Tony Froccaro gained yardage on quarterback sneaks, Jonathan Keren, Dan Marici, Matt Mauser and Blaise Stoddard played well.
In the second game, Iowa in Black sponsored by the Port Washington PBA remained undefeated by defeating Florida in Orange sponsored by Manhasset Sports Shop by the score of 19-0. Drew Belinsky scored on a 40-yard run in the first period and Chris Cook made the point after touchdown. Belinsky ran 40 yards again in the second period but the point after touchdown was stopped. In the last period Jason Sirotkin ran 70 yards on a crossbuck for the touchdown. Also playing well for the Black were Jason Gurewitz, Zack Gunzberg and Greg Gilston. For the Orange, Jason Bitter ran well and Ross Weinreb, Harry Klein, Dan Gorman, Tyler Adams and Jack Ruggiero made a number of tackles.
In the final game Ahmad Reed of Notre Dame in Green sponsored by Greenpoint Savings Bank ran for four touchdowns, scoring the first in the first period and the second two in the second period and finally the fourth touchdown in the fourth period. This enabled Notre Dame to defeat UCLA in Blue, sponsored by Miracle-Gro by the score of 25-12. The 12 points for the Blue were scored on two runs by Tommy Jester. Playing well for the Green were Joe Giesecke, Evan Kaufman, Spencer Maslow, P.T. Tierney and Mike Wysota. For the Blue, David Lawrence, Josh Potter, Jamie Scharf, Chris Kapper and Matt Tompkins played well.
