Where was I on Sept. 18 when the Port Washington Public Library held a meeting at which the library's policy for Internet use was proposed?
Probably spending the evening with a friend, chatting about our adolescent grandchildren. We want the best for them and closely follow their lives. They would have been served by me if I had been aware and noted this meeting would take place.
Equal access indeed! Children have to be protected from dangers their young minds cannot comprehend or process. Now, any person out of area can access the Internet on computers put there with our tax dollars.
The truth is known, but not always said, that under the guise of First Amendment Rights, a safe vehicle for pornography or other offensive materials is provided. I am angered and disappointed with the trustees, but even more so with myself. I let it happen.
