Frank J. McCaffrey, longtime resident of Port Washington, died on May 1, 2002. He was born on March 29, 1926 in NYC. A Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War, he was a retired restauranteur and was an eight-year resident of Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Las Vegas; son James McCaffrey of Atlanta, GA; daughters, Mary Daniel of Manhattan, and Patti Leyland of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren. Burial was in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV. A memorial service will be held in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Manhattan, at 10 a.m. on June 29. The family requests donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 3391 N. Buffalo Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89129. Arrangements were made by Valley Memorial Cremation and Burial of Las Vegas.
Goldie Siegel, a longtime resident of Port Washington, died on June 3, 2002. Goldie and her husband Julius moved to Port Washington in 1947 and opened Commuters Cleaners on Haven Ave. Julie was Port Washington Democratic leader for many years. Goldie was active in the community as a longtime volunteer at the Salvation Army Thrift Shop and at the Senior Connection at the PW Public Library. She will be remembered by her friends and family as an intelligent, caring woman. Goldie will be missed by many, especially by her grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah, and her daughter and son-in-law Harriet and Robert Boxer. Thomas Aloysius Hanley Sr., of Port Washington, died on June 4, 2002. Husband of Maureen. Father of Dorothy McGovern (Lawrence), Maureen Reedy (John), Ellen Whiteman (Brian), Thomas Jr. and John (Jennifer). Grandfather of 15. Brother of Eileen Byrne, Catherine Brethel, Elizabeth Crowley and the late Ellen Koneck. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, Manhasset. Rosanna M. DeLaura, 78, of Port Washington, died on June 6, 2002. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Helder, Donna Maatouk and Michael DeLaura; and three grandchildren.
