I am writing to prevent any confusion which may arise as a result of the article on page 3 of the May 2 issue. The article "Local Wife, Mom, Fire Medic is Mrs. New York" stated that Tricia and Peter Sanders have two daughters, Alexandra and Emily. In reality, I am Emily's mother, and Tricia's former husband is the father of Alexandra. It was confusing for my 7-year-old to read something which made it sound as though her stepmother was actually her mother, and I wouldn't want members of my community to be puzzled as well.

Emily and I wish Tricia the best of luck pursuing her beauty pageant goals. However, we hope that any promotional material that may appear anywhere in the future will avoid the creation of mistaken impressions.
