Anna (Dolly) D. Stigi, 91, died on April 18, 2002. To her family and her many friends and associates in Port Washington, she will be remembered as a caring mother, a good friend, an inventive cook and a woman of tireless energy and curiosity. She was born in Brooklyn and witnessed with fascination the revolutionary changes in communications and electronics that marked the 20th century. She lived through two world wars; worked to help her son and daughter get their college educations; presided as a generous hostess over countless celebrations and parties for family and friends; and survived the deaths of her husband John and her son John II. In her latter years, she worked at the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Thrift Shop on Main St. She loved volunteering for this worthy cause and was loved in return for her help and her unique personality. She was a woman of warmth and quick wit, of strong passion and great compassion. She is survived by a daughter, Marieluisa Stern, who lives with her husband Richard in Manhattan; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stigi, who also lives in Manhattan; and three grandchildren.
