Several weeks ago I wrote a letter regarding the sale of Louie's restaurant. To my amazement I must have hit a chord! I received numerous phone calls and e-mails from former Louie's employees inquiring about a possible reunion, many of them offering their help. Previous to my letter having been printed, the Port News did a lovely piece on the restaurant and I believe that Jay Zwerlein mentioned the possibility of some type of farewell party. I am happy to announce that a reunion party and an additional party for those people who have been loyal Louie's customers have been planned.
The "Louie's Employee Reunion" will be on Friday, March 8 from 7 to 11 p.m. The party for the patrons of Louie's is on Friday, March 15 beginning at 7 p.m. Cocktails and hors d'ouevres will be served.
Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of time to try and contact each and every person we would like to. Should you know someone who once worked at Louie's or was a regular customer please tell them about the "thank you and farewell" parties that are planned. We would really appreciate the help.
And if you are a former Louie's employee, please contact the restaurant (883-4242) and let them know that you are planning to come.
It is too bad that it has taken the sale of a Port Washington institution, like Louie's, to wrangle everyone up so let's make it the reunion of all reunions! We hope to see you there.
