  • News: Star Supports Port Washington's Special Pets at Animal League

    On Thursday, January 24 two stars met for the first time in Port Washington at North Shore Animal League and it was love at first sight. The similarities between them were striking: both wore single color ensembles; both moved with a willowy grace and both dazzled us with their irresistible wide-mouthed smiles. The least noticeable but most important trait they share is that both are diabetic and this was the reason for their special meeting. FULL STORY

  • News: Schreiber Art Department Chair Awarded National Art Education Association Grant

    Mark Graham, chair of the art department at Schreiber High School, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the National Art Education Association to examine Latino students' attitudes towards the arts. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Champions Crowned in Elks "Hoop Shoot"

    Under the direction of the Athletic Director of the Port Washington Schools, Rose Bonanno, and with the assistance of Schreiber High School students, Great Neck/Port Washington Lodge #1543 sponsored the Elks "Hoop Shoot" at Weber Middle School on Jan. 5. Three boys and three girls ages 8-13 won the first round of competition and have been named the lodge champions. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Vikings Take Down Jets

    Playing from behind in the first quarter, the Vikings got their act in gear in the second and went on to dispose of the East Meadow Jets 53-46. The Vikings were slow out of the gate as East Meadow performed excellently on the boards and prevented second shot attempts from the Vikings. Ross and Ferrucci led the Vikings with 16 and 13 points respectively, as the varsity overcame a 13-9 first quarter deficit to win going away with tight defense and stronger board play in the second period. Ferrucci did an excellent job of plugging up the middle of the paint, along with Mandelkern, Mulqueen, and Guillaume that enabled the Vikings to hold the Jets to one-shot opportunities and completely take them out of their first quarter rhythm.
