I read the recently published letter by Mr. Jake Eisenman regarding the 41 acres at the Mill Pond Acres senior housing development. Mr. Eisenman's comments were grossly inaccurate. The fact is the property is an old mine and it is currently being used as a dumping ground for junk. Furthermore, making statements like "toxic construction will work its way into the aquifer" is irresponsible and just plan "fear mongering." He and anyone else interested in the facts should read the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The truth is the property will be developed as an industrial park under the existing zoning if senior housing is not approved. Common sense will tell you industrial development will be far worse in terms of its impacts than senior housing, particularly for traffic. The people of our community deserve the truth and not misinformation. Our seniors have little or no housing alternatives as they age. It's time we did something for them.
