Hooray! Hooray! The new and improved, bigger and better Port Washington Public Library has opened to the public at last. Though there are a few finishing touches to be attended to, the new layout and design promise an expansion of services that will benefit patrons from the Pajama Story Hour gang to the most studious of researchers (There's actually quiet study space!).
Director Nancy Curtin and her staff, the Library Board of Trustees, architects Donald and Lisa Sclare and the Turner Construction Company are all to be congratulated for bringing the project in on time and on budget. Their efforts should please regular users and entice newcomers to become library card-carrying patrons.
The Port Washington Public Library has been an asset to this community since 1891. The building's new configuration is bound to make it even more popular and more useful in the future.
