The Port Vipers (Boys U11) won one and tied one over a busy soccer weekend. The Vipers shut out the Plainedge Red Storm Saturday 5-0. Erik Schroeder paced the defense from his fullback spot. Rich Iumperatore turned in another fine game as goalie. Matt O'Dell, Jake Most and Will Rizzo also had good games in the backfield. Spencer Irving turned in another fine performance at midfield, feeding the ball forward and thwarting Plainedge's efforts at ball control. The offense was led by Harry Roberts with one goal and two assists, Nick Balterman with three goals, and one goal by Matt Siegel.

On Sunday the Vipers tied the Syosset Magic 1-1. Again the defense played very well. James Hall had a particularly good game at midfield. However, the ball did not bounce the offense's way. Again and again shots just missed. The lone goal was scored on a great team effort between forwards Sam Glickman, Ian Schwartz and Nick Balterman. The Vipers finish their season next weekend. They stand 8-5-4 overall and 2-2-4 in division play.

The Boys U10 Lightning won this past weekend. This victory places them in a double championship game position Father's Day weekend. On Saturday they will play for the division championship; on Sunday for the Waldbaum's Cup championship. Other Port Waldbaum's finalists are the U16 Sharks, U13 Blue Storm and the U13 Wildcats. Good luck to them all! Logo
