When I work with children in my profession, I tell them to resolve their conflicts by using words, rather than by physical means. I was appalled to read about the latest conflict between our board members Richard Sussman and John Zimmerman, once allies. The responsibility of those on the board is to work for the children of our community. The continuing conflict between these two men takes time and attention away from the job of providing for our children. It is time that these two men take a good look at themselves and admit that their continuing conflict is only drawing attention to them, and away from the children whom they were elected to serve.
Now that their conflict has escalated beyond words and there are allegations of physical altercations, what can we expect to read about in next week's issue of Port News?
It is time for these two men to step down and allow competent, mature people to run our school board.
